Polyamide Tape

SyncSol ETPT 4790 is a polyimide film tape coated with a silicone adhesive (often listed as polyamide tape). The film does not soften at elevated temperatures and stays dimensionally stable, so it gives a reliable release surface and insulates copper conductors in high-temperature magnet wire applications.

Beyond magnet wire, ETPT 4790 is used for cryogenic insulation, high-temperature masking, protecting circuit board gold fingers, wave-soldering contacts, 3D printing and heat transfer printing, and insulating transformers, motors, coils, fibre optic cables and solar panels. It is supplied on a polyethylene core instead of cardboard.

✓
Heat-stable film

Polyimide film does not soften and stays dimensionally stable when hot.

✓
Low adhesive transfer

Silicone adhesive performs at high temperature, reducing residue and cleaning.

✓
Flame retardant

Also resists chemicals and radiation, protecting the surfaces underneath.

✓
Clean core

Wound on a polyethylene core rather than cardboard.

About Polyamide Tape

Polyimide film keeps its shape and does not soften at the temperatures where many plastic films would sag or shrink. Paired with a silicone adhesive, which also holds up under heat, the tape can stay on through soldering or curing and then be removed with little adhesive transfer — reducing rework and post-process cleaning.
