Glazing Tape

Glazing tape forms the inside, and sometimes the outside, seal between an insulated glass panel and the window sash or door frame, preventing air and water leakage. It is most common in vinyl and aluminium windows and doors, though it is used in timber frames too.

SyncSol offers glazing tape based on a high-strength, monolithic foamed acrylic adhesive system that can bond an insulated glass unit into a metal frame. Because "glazing tape" means different things across the residential and commercial window industry, it helps to confirm the exact type needed.

About Glazing Tape

The acrylic foam used in glazing tape is highly viscoelastic: it behaves partly like a solid and partly like a very thick liquid. Under wind pressure, thermal movement or vibration, the foam stretches and relaxes rather than cracking or peeling, spreading the load across the whole bond line. This is what lets a single tape both seal and hold an insulated glass unit in a metal frame over time.
